Etihad Airways Celebrates First Flight to Atlanta

Etihad Airways Celebrates First Flight to Atlanta

  • Airline expands North American network with Atlanta, its fifth U.S. gateway

  • The new Etihad service is operated using Etihad’s state of the art A350, the latest onboard product with private Business Suites featuring sliding doors

  • Unlocks seamless access for Southern U.S. travellers to discover Abu Dhabi’s unique blend of culture, innovation, and world-class leisure experiences

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has touched down in Atlanta for the first time, expanding its U.S. footprint and connecting the cultural and commercial heart of the U.S. Southeast with Abu Dhabi and beyond. The launch marks another milestone in Etihad’s North American expansion.

Etihad’s first flight from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport touched down on 2 July, making Atlanta the fifth U.S. gateway in Etihad’s global network, joining New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston.

Guests travelling from Abu Dhabi benefit from the convenience of the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility at Zayed International Airport – the only one of its kind in the region. This allows passengers to clear U.S. immigration and customs before departure, arriving in the United States as domestic travellers and saving valuable time on arrival.

The newly launched route meets the growing appetite for travel between the UAE and the US, catering to business travellers, vacationers, and those visiting friends and family.

It also makes it easier for guests from across the southeastern U.S. to visit Abu Dhabi and experience a city where modernity meets rich heritage, offering a vibrant mix of culture, adventure, relaxation and stunning beaches.

The new service is operated using Etihad’s next-generation Airbus A350-1000, a fuel-efficient, environmentally advanced aircraft offering a quieter ride, and the airline’s latest onboard product on key long-haul routes.

The Atlanta route launched with four flights per week, but record-high load factors and remarkable early bookings have prompted Etihad to fast-track expansion, with daily flights set to commence from November 2025. Demand from both leisure and corporate segments has exceeded expectations, firmly validating Atlanta’s position as a key market for Etihad.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “Atlanta is a dynamic city with deep cultural, economic and aviation significance. This new service enhances access to the southeastern United States while offering seamless connections across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.

“With U.S. Preclearance at Zayed International Airport, guests can enjoy the convenience of arriving in Atlanta as domestic travellers. We’re delighted to bring our award-winning experience to guests travelling to and from Atlanta.

“It also means we’re excited to welcome even more guests to our amazing home in Abu Dhabi. U.S. travellers are already curious about what the city has to offer: from beautiful beaches and fantastic theme parks to world-class cultural experiences and mouthwatering cuisine. The response to this route has been phenomenal – the strength of early bookings has been so impressive that we’ve already announced daily flights starting later this year. It’s a clear sign that travellers are eager to discover everything Abu Dhabi has to offer.”

The elevated Business Class is home to 44 Business Suites, each with a sliding door providing each guest with enhanced privacy within their suite. In addition to the direct aisle access, every Business Class seat is designed for maximum comfort and converts into a fully flat bed of 79 inches in length, with ample storage for convenience. Noise-cancelling headphones and an 18.5-inch TV screen provide a cinematic experience to enjoy Etihad’s extensive inflight entertainment offering. The Business seats also feature a built-in wireless charging dock and Bluetooth headphone pairing.

The A350 is also home to 327 Economy Smart Seats with an innovative recline, 13-inch touch screen with Bluetooth headset pairing. All guests can also take advantage of complimentary Chat packages on Wi-Fi or opt for full surfing throughout the flight.

BEYOND THE BORDER, BENEATH THE NEON

BEYOND THE BORDER, BENEATH THE NEON Las Vegas tourism leaders came to Vancouver with more than resort updates. They brought a candid message for Canadians - and a citywide case for why Las Vegas is becoming less about the casino floor and more about the experience beyond it. By Wayne Hansen | Editor, Talk Travel Magazine Politics may dominate the headlines, but in Las Vegas, hospitality remains the house rule. That was the unmistakable message at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, where approximately 100 travel advisors met with Las Vegas tourism leaders and destination partners during the first stop of a three-city Western Canadian sales mission. The evening was part product update, part listening session and part reassurance campaign at a time when politics, the exchange rate and questions about value are affecting how some Canadians feel about travelling south of the border. “We know that Canada loves Las Vegas. We love Canada right back,” LVCVA president and CEO Steve Hill told the room. The line was warm, but it was not casual. Canada remains Las Vegas’s largest international source market, yet Canadian arrivals fell sharply in 2025. Figures shared at the event placed the total at roughly 1.18 million visitors, down about 18 per cent year over year. The evening’s message, repeated in several forms, was simple: Canadians are valued, Las Vegas understands their concerns, and the destination wants them back when they are ready. Not Just Selling - Listening What made the Vancouver event more meaningful than a conventional sales presentation was the willingness of senior tourism executives to acknowledge that the relationship with Canada cannot be taken for granted. Bill Hornbuckle, president and CEO of MGM Resorts International, said the delegation had come not only to provide updates but also to hear the Canadian travel industry’s perspective on travel to the United States and Las Vegas. That distinction matters. A destination can launch another advertising campaign; rebuilding confidence requires listening to the people who hear travellers’ objections every day.For travel advisors, this creates an important role. Clients may arrive with concerns about politics, price or whether Las Vegas still fits the kind of holiday they want. Advisors can address those concerns honestly and then match the traveller to a city that is now far broader than its old gambling-first image. The Reinvention of Las Vegas One statistic offered during the evening captured the shift: fewer than one in ten visitors now identifies gambling as the primary reason for visiting. The casino remains part of the scenery, but the demand drivers have expanded to professional sports, headline entertainment, culinary experiences, conventions, celebrations, wellness and outdoor adventure. Fletch Brunelle, the LVCVA’s vice-president of marketing, described Las Vegas as “the greatest arena on earth.” Increasingly, that sounds less like a slogan than a development strategy. The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix has generated a reported US$3.2 billion in cumulative economic impact since its 2023 debut, and the race has been extended through 2037. The premium hospitality packages attract global attention, but the experience is not reserved exclusively for the highest spenders: single-day admission has been promoted from US$81, while the free Neon City Festival, scheduled for November 20-22, 2026, adds live music and culinary programming for visitors who want the atmosphere without a race ticket. Baseball is next. The 33,000-seat Athletics ballpark is rising on the former Tropicana site and is scheduled to open for the 2028 MLB season. Its climate-controlled design is intended to combine close views of the field with the comfort required for a Las Vegas summer. A year later, Allegiant Stadium will host Super Bowl LXIII, returning the NFL championship to the city in 2029. These are not isolated attractions. They are reasons to travel, anchors for packages and powerful answers to the client who says, “I don’t gamble - why would I go to Las Vegas?” A City Still Investing Las Vegas is also placing an enormous bet on reinvention within its resorts. MGM Resorts representatives said the company has invested about US$800 million across its portfolio, including refreshed rooms and expanded dining and entertainment. Among the culinary additions are Carbone Riviera, overlooking the Fountains of Bellagio, and Gymkhana at ARIA, the first MGM restaurant from the team behind London’s two-Michelin-starred Indian dining room. The Cosmopolitan is expected to welcome The Corner Store, an outpost of the fashionable New York restaurant, in fall 2026. The Venetian, meanwhile, has undertaken a reported US$1.5-billion transformation, including renovations to its suites and 11 new restaurants. At Flamingo Las Vegas, Category 10 by country star Luke Combs is scheduled to open in fall 2026, bringing a large-scale honky-tonk, dance hall and live-entertainment concept with obvious appeal for groups and celebration travel. One of the skyline’s most recognizable future additions will be the guitar-shaped Hard Rock Hotel on the former Mirage site. Its planned 2027 opening will signal not simply a hotel replacement, but another chapter in the Strip’s habit of reinventing its landmarks before visitors can become too nostalgic for the last version. Value Has Re-entered the Conversation The challenge for Las Vegas is that reinvention alone does not resolve the cost concerns of Canadian travellers. The exchange rate magnifies every room charge, meal and resort fee. Tourism leaders appeared to recognize that value - especially at the budget and mid-market levels - must once again be part of the sales story. Hill noted that higher-end properties have remained comparatively resilient, while value-oriented hotels are working with carriers such as Air Canada, WestJet and Porter to build more attractive packages. MGM’s Luxor and Excalibur have also introduced an all-inclusive offer, reported at the event from US$330, combining accommodation for two with meals and entertainment. Travellers should confirm current inclusions, dates, taxes and resort-fee treatment before booking, but the significance is larger than a single promotion: Las Vegas is experimenting with greater price certainty. Booking behaviour is changing as well. The window is now often just 10 to 45 days before departure, according to information shared at the presentation. That gives advisors an opportunity to monitor air-and-hotel combinations, identify event-driven demand early and help clients distinguish a genuine package value from a low headline rate with costly additions. Beyond the Strip Perhaps the most useful idea for repeat visitors came from Travel Nevada: treat Las Vegas as the gateway, not necessarily the entire journey. The state’s “Get a Little Out There” collection features ten road-trip itineraries that can be added before or after a city stay. The routes introduce travellers to desert landscapes, small communities, ghost towns and wonderfully eccentric stops such as Nevada’s Extraterrestrial Highway. For Canadians who enjoy road trips and nature, the combination can transform a familiar three-night Las Vegas escape into a more varied Nevada holiday. Other suppliers broadened the menu further. Maverick Aviation Group highlighted real-time helicopter-tour booking through its reservation system - useful for Grand Canyon and aerial Las Vegas experiences. AC Hotel Las Vegas Symphony Park, a new 441-room, non-gaming downtown development, combines AC Hotels by Marriott and Element by Westin within one building near the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets. Shared amenities connect the two brands while keycard controls preserve the distinct guest experience of each. What Advisors Can Take Away The most persuasive way to sell today’s Las Vegas may be to stop selling “Las Vegas” as one generic product. Start instead with the client’s motivation: a major game, a concert, a milestone dinner, a couples’ escape, a bachelorette weekend, a convention, a road trip or simply a few warm days with a direct flight from Western Canada. Then build the city around that purpose. That approach also avoids pretending that Canadian hesitation is imaginary. It acknowledges the political and financial climate without allowing it to define the entire destination. As Hornbuckle put it, Las Vegas understands the concerns and continues “to make the city better every day.” Political climates change and headlines move on. Hospitality, however, is built on human connections. In Vancouver, Las Vegas delivered its invitation personally and unmistakably: the lights are on, the doors are open and Canadians remain very much on the guest list.

Smart Tips for Keeping Your Yard in Great Condition: Energize Your Outdoor Spaces!

Update Revitalize Your Outdoor Space with These Expert Tips Maintaining a beautiful yard is not just about aesthetics; it’s a lifestyle choice that brings people together! For Gen-Z friends looking to elevate their gathering spots this season, creating and keeping a vibrant outdoor space can transform any ordinary hangout into a lively oasis. Start with the Basics: Soil and Planning Begin by assessing your soil quality—healthy soil is the foundation of a thriving garden! Before planting, a quick test will reveal its pH level, helping you determine the necessary amendments. Additionally, take a moment to plan your layout; consider mixing perennials and annuals for a cascade of colors that will truly sing through the seasons. Water Wisely: Sustainability Matters Watering is a crucial aspect of yard care. While it’s tempting to water daily during hot months, this can lead to shallow roots. Aim for deeper watering sessions a couple of times a week to encourage resilience. Opt for early morning or late evening when evaporation rates are lower, ensuring your plants thrive while conserving water. Incorporate Local Flora for a Unique Touch Consider native plants that are better adapted to your climate. They usually require less maintenance, fewer resources, and they attract local wildlife, fostering biodiversity right in your backyard! Plus, showcasing these resilient beauties can create conversation starters for those friendly get-togethers. Join the Fun: Why Yard Care is a Group Activity Turn yard maintenance into a fun event with friends! Organize weekend gatherings that blend yard work with social bonding—think potluck meets gardening day. The results are not only a cherished outdoor haven but also cherished memories shared amongst friends. Keeping your yard in great condition doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With some planning, sustainable practices, and, most importantly, collaboration, you’ll enjoy a flourishing garden that becomes the envy of your social circle!
