Cebu Pacific’s Premier Recognition in Sustainability and Inclusion
In a spectacular showcase of responsible business practices, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) has made waves at the 2025 ESGBusiness Awards in Malaysia, snagging two prestigious accolades for its exemplary efforts in "Sustainable Transportation" and "Diversity & Inclusion." This recognition not only affirms Cebu Pacific’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also highlights its role as a pioneer in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
The airline's triumph at this esteemed event underscores its commitment to solidifying its reputation as a leader among Asian companies in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. As Cebu Pacific continues to grow, their aim is clear: to ensure that accessible travel contributes positively to people and communities. "Inclusivity and sustainability remain at the forefront of how we envision the future of travel," stated Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer.
Breaking Barriers with Diversity
In pursuit of a rich and inclusive culture, Cebu Pacific has become a trailblazer by being the first airline in Southeast Asia to earn the Great Place to Work® certification in 2024, recognizing their unparalleled work culture. The airline has also made significant strides in workforce diversity, having employed openly transgender cabin crew members, offering various health benefits, and emphasizing gender equality in leadership roles. Felix Lopez, Chief Human Resources Officer, highlighted that their diverse workforce encompassing 31 nationalities is the backbone of their adaptability and resilience.
Climate-Conscious Operations
Cebu Pacific’s sustainability agenda is as impressive as its inclusive practices. With a notably young aircraft fleet, the airline has managed to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, being ranked 18th globally in the Cirium Flight Emissions Review. By adopting fuel-efficient practices, Cebu Pacific has successfully saved nearly 50 million kilograms of fuel, preventing over 150,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions last year alone.
This commitment to sustainability is further exemplified by their unique sustainability-linked loan (SLL), which aligns financing with their emission reduction targets. Aileen Isidro, Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer, encapsulated this balance beautifully: "By aligning affordable travel with responsible operations, we ensure that our expansion is both competitive and future-ready."
