AirAsia Philippines Champions Inclusive Recruitment for Cabin Crew
In an inspiring move toward inclusivity, AirAsia Philippines is changing the face of cabin crew recruitment with a groundbreaking initiative that stands out for its commitment to diversity and service-oriented practices.
From August 20 to 29, 2025, aspiring cabin crew members will have the opportunity to participate in open casting calls held every Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 noon. Unlike traditional recruitment processes that emphasize formal attire and strict appearances, this new approach encourages candidates to come in comfortable, casual clothing—white t-shirts, jeans, and casual shoes for men, while women can opt for a white shirt paired with denim skirts and heels. This shift not only fosters a more relaxed environment but also challenges outdated stereotypes that often eliminate talented individuals based on superficial criteria.
Breaking Down Barriers in Airline Recruitment
“We are reimagining the way we do our recruitment process to focus more on the essentials—talent, attitude, and skills needed to become a successful cabin crew,” said Suresh Bangah, CEO of AirAsia Philippines. This philosophy aims to create a fun and inclusive work environment while maintaining high standards of safety and service, an aspect that has earned AirAsia consecutive accolades as the World’s Best Low-Cost Cabin Crew by Skytrax.
Potential candidates will not only engage in casting calls but will also gain insights into the Allstar culture, giving them a glimpse into the day-to-day experiences of cabin crew members. With an emphasis on service rather than appearance, this initiative aligns with global trends advocating for diversity and a more holistic view of candidate qualifications.
Encouragement for Aspiring Cabin Crew
AirAsia’s recruitment efforts are an excellent opportunity for both recent college graduates and senior high school students, particularly given the growing demand for multilingual crew members. Candidates are encouraged to bring updated resumes and a recent photo, along with their brightest smiles, as they prepare to step into the skies.
As a fourth consecutive open day approaches, AirAsia Philippines exemplifies how innovative recruitment strategies can lead to broader representation within the airline sector, addressing inclusivity and changing mindsets about who can represent an airline in the air.
